It seems Norwegian Cruise Line is reaching out for some help to name its two new ships already under construction and they need some ideas. From now until August 14, adult residents of the U.S. and Canada, outside Quebec, are being asked what they think the names of the Norwegian Cruise Line “Project Breakaway” ships should be.
The incentives to enter the contest are pretty sweet, too. Norwegian Cruise Line, in conjunction with USA TODAY, is ready to fly the winners to the big inauguration ceremonies for each ship, the first of which debuts in April 2013 and the second vessel a year later.
Along with bragging rights that you get to name a cruise ship, you’ll also be given free airfare to the ship debut party, on-board accommodations and meals, plus the cruise line will throw in the cash for the tax bill, too.
Winners are due to be named this September, which gives you just a little time to come up with a great name for a 4,000-passenger cruise line.
The only real naming rule is that the word “Norwegian” must be part of the title and you can enter as many names as you can think up! Hint: The company is looking for a name that links the ships to Freestyle Cruising.
If you aren’t a lucky winner, you can still be on board when the first of the two Project Breakaway ships goes to sea. Norwegian Cruise Line will start taking reservations for the 2013 maiden voyage starting in October.
